April 2011 was a remarkably warm and dry month. The total rainfall of 5.0 mm was only 10% of the Ross-on-Wye* average for April of 48.4 mm, and the average maximum temperature of 17.6 °C was 4.7 °C above the Ross average for April of 12.9 °C (about the same as for a normal early June).
May 2011 was wetter than average and made up for the extremely dry April. The total rainfall of 79.6 mm was 62% above the Ross-on-Wye* average for May of 49.2 mm, and the average maximum temperature of 16.7 °C was 0.1 °C above the Ross average for May of 16.6 °C
June 2011 was wetter than average and matched the May rainfall in this respect. The total rainfall of 88.0 mm was 63% above the Ross-on-Wye* average for June of 54.0 mm, and the average maximum temperature of 18.7 °C was 0.6 °C below the Ross average for June of 19.3 °C.
July 2011 was wetter and cooler than average. The total rainfall of 82.4 mm was 137% above the Ross-on-Wye* average for July of 34.8 mm, and the average maximum temperature of 19.2 °C was 2.2 °C below the Ross average for July of 22.0 °C.
August 2011 was a little drier and a good deal cooler than average. The total rainfall of 58.7 mm was 4% below the Ross-on-Wye* average for August of 61.1 mm, and the average maximum temperature of 19.8 °C was 1.7 °C below the Ross average for August of 21.5 °C.
September 2011 was wetter yet a little warmer than average. The total rainfall of 78.6 mm was 23% above the Ross-on-Wye* average for September of 63.7 mm, and the average maximum temperature of 18.9 °C was 0.6 °C above the Ross average for September of 18.3 °C, largely due to a late burst of unseasonably warm weather.
October 2011 was much warmer than usual, thanks to a mini heat wave in the first few days (26°C, 25°C and 23°C respectively) and the average maximum temperature of 15.8°C was 1.6°C above the Ross average for October of 14.2°C.
The early part of the month was drier than usual too, but a fall of 39.6 mm of rain in the last five days brought the total rainfall to 79.8 mm, 15% above the Ross-on-Wye* average for October of 67.5 mm.
November 2011 was again warmer than usual, and the average maximum temperature of 11.6°C was 1.3°C above the Ross average for November of 10.3°C.
There were 26 days on which rain fell, making a total rainfall of 103.8 mm, 61% above the Ross-on-Wye* average for November of 64.5 mm.
December 2011 was a little warmer than usual, and the average maximum temperature of 8.3°C was 0.2°C above the Ross average for December of 8.1°C.
There were 26 days on which rain fell, making a total rainfall of 116.0 mm, 49% above the Ross-on-Wye* average for December of 78.1 mm.
