Pig & Apple reopening for takeaways this week: on Thursday/Friday/Saturday (4.30pm – 8.30pm) starting on Thursday 7th May. Payment will be contactless whether by card or cash. There will be a one way system to collect – sign posted from the car park. Full details on their website.

Wye Valley Producers – new Click&Collect farmers’ market: a collective of multiple award winning local food & drink producers, including Humble by Nature.

You’ll find coffee, cheese, ice-cream, preserves, gin, beer and much, much more! Visit the website and place an order and pick it up in Chepstow at the first Click & Collect event on Friday 1st May.

You can also pick up sausages and new season lamb from our farm in Penallt. Email to order/enquire. Half lamb – available at end May, £60. Frozen sausages (pork, pork & leek, pork & chilli, black pepper, Gloucester) – 6 large sausages /pack c450g, £4/pack.

The Fountain Inn at Trellech Grange have a takeaway meal service each day of the week except Monday. Pay by debit card over the phone for a contactless service. Menu and full details here.

The Boat Inn now offers Afternoon Teas available for takeaway (3pm – 6pm Friday – Sunday). Email [email protected] or text 07921123771. See their website for details and menu.

Newspaper deliveries: The NewsTeam Group are now delivering newspapers in this area and charge 40p per day for the service. Ring Julie Collier (0771 1007542 – pm is better) to arrange a service.

They take newspaper vouchers too and, if you register with the current Deliver My Newspaper scheme also, they will send separate vouchers which cover the delivery charge for a minimum of 6 weeks, i.e. free delivery!

Handyman House is now back to (almost) normal and open for business. Social distancing is in place and there is no longer a need to book items in advance.

Garden Supplies:

Raglan Garden Centre reopens on Monday May 11. The “Raglan to your door” delivery service will continue too – pre-order by email – full details of the service are here.

The Willows Garden Centre in Usk reopens on Monday May 11 and continues with its click and collect servicey. Call 10am to 4pm (not Sundays), £25 minimum order. 01291 672669.

Millbrook Garden Centre reopens on Monday May 11 with a limit of 30 in the shop at any time. They start a delivery service on Tuesday 12th.

Castlegate Surgery can deliver your prescription if you request this by phone or leave a message on the dispensary answerphone (01600 713353) stating your name, date of birth and address & medication required. If they can’t deliver and you’re self-isolating, request help via Penallt Support Network 0115 8883090 10 am – 12 noon 7 days per week.

Trellech Surgery has a dedicated phone line and a team of volunteers delivering prescriptions throughout the area (Friday delivery to Penallt). All volunteers have enhanced DBS checks, identity cards and are known to the surgery. Please note the phone line will be manned from 10am to midday Monday to Friday on 01183 282848.

The Wye Valley Practice now offers an online consultation service.

It would be great to support them & obviously to have delicious bread, cake & pastries to your door!

They have a £20 minimum spend. For those not wanting to spend £20, they suggest clubbing your order together with others.

Evans of MonmouthKatie Price writes that deliveries to Penallt will now be delivered to a central drop-off point. This will be our outbuilding at Upper Llananant on a Thursday, time to be confirmed.

For those able to collect, please do so.

For the elderly/vulnerable, Phil or myself will deliver to your door. (If anyone is willing to help with this, it would be greatly appreciated )

As far as we are aware, they are not taking on new customers at this point in time, due to demand.

Hancocks of Monmouth are now also delivering meat to our area. Phone order only, on a day by day basis, call on the day you would like meat delivered or collected. Call orders through, state whether it is collected or delivered, they will take your name and number, call you back once completed for payment over the phone by card. £20 delivery charge. Llanishen Village Shop – has just opened: 7am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 1pm weekends.

A one-in-one-out system will be required for everyone’s safety and gloves and hand sanitisers will be provided.
