Lonely In Lone Lane

Lone Lane closed until December

landslip in Lone LaneRoad closed signs went up at the top of Lone Lane recently and it seems likely that they will be there until sometime in December whilst Monmouthshire County Council effect the repairs needed.

The problem lies with a small landslip which has taken away part of the retaining wall of Lone Lane just above Steps Cottage, and some 10 yards above where the old railway line leaves Lone Lane going south towards Whitebrook (see map).

The Monmouthshire CC Road Works Report predicts that work will continue until some time in December. Information on the website is updated weekly – look for the Central Monmouth Area within the Road Works Report to monitor progress (job reference C48-1).

The slideshow below shows some pictures of the landslip and its effects.
