The opening match of the 2013 season, Wales vs Ireland at the Millenium Stadium, will be shown in High Definition on the “big screen” at Pelham Hall on Saturday February 2nd. The kick-off is at 1.30 pm and the doors will be open at 1.00 pm. As for last year, the bar will be open during the game, draft beer will be on tap and light refreshments are planned.

16 March 2012
At its March 2012 meeting, the Pelham Hall committee approved a proposal to show live TV in the bar area of Pelham Hall. The Hall already possesses a high quality digital projector and a large projection screen, so some of the elements were already in place. And when local aerial professional, John Hall, offered to install a satellite dish free of charge, and the necessary TV Licence was purchased, all that was needed was to rustle up some extra kit, and we would be ready to go!The kit was trialled shortly after and the resulting live BBC TV picture declared as “stunning”, well up to the High Definition (HD) standards anticipated.

What next?

Plans are now well advanced to show the Wales v France match on Saturday March 17th with a kick off time at 2.45 pm. The bar should be open to sell soft drinks and alcohol (draft beer on tap!) as well as some basic snacks and a small (optional) donation may be requested to cover initial costs.

Unfortunately, a previous Hall booking means that it may not be possible to show the England v Ireland match which follows at 5.00 pm as well.

The Committee has already checked with The Inn at Penallt to confirm that they have no plans to compete in showing 6 Nations matches, landlord Andrew Murphy even promising to come to the Hall to watch the match himself if time allows!

Stop Press: in fact, The Inn will be showing the game as well!

It is now confirmed that only the Wales v France match can be shown as the hall if required from 5 pm onwards for another function. See here for final details.
