There is a very limited opportunity for Penallt to ‘adopt‘ the Red Phone Box in the village Penallt, NP25 4AH, 01600 712163 (not the one by Penallt Old Church which has ‘listed status’ and is being kept).
It appears that BT has surveyed red phone boxes which are very seldom used and has a plan to remove them over the forthcoming months.
There is an opportunity for Community and Parish Councils to adopt these boxes for a nominal charge of £1 which TUCC is prepared to do if there is local interest and a local group who are willing to take over their maintenance. The phone will be removed but the box can then be maintained as part of the character of the village, used an art gallery, book exchange, for sale of plants etc…….
