Inn Update

Food hygiene success
We received our annual unannounced food hygiene check a few weeks ago and were awarded 4 stars from a possible 5, with food hygiene standards rated as good. Since taking over The Inn we have invested a lot in the infrastructure to ensure it is fit for current requirements and meets the  standards our  customers expect. Preparing everything from fresh, carrying out a substantial amount of our own butchery and fish filleting brings added complications to our food handling process and whilst we will push hard to achieve 5 next year, we were very pleased with the environmental health officers findings and grading.

New Sous Chef joins The Inn
Two weeks ago after a long search to find the right person our kitchen team was joined by a really fantastic young chef, Lyal Brown, who will work as Peter’s deputy. Lyal has worked in some of the best known kitchens in Monmouth including The Fox Hunter, The Walnut Tree and The Chart House.

Trip Advisor certificate of excellence
We have just been notified that we have been awarded a Trip Advisor certificate of excellence. The certificate is only  awarded to around 10% of Trip Advisor hospitality listings. To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence,  the business must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travellers on Trip Advisor. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months (taken from TA awards criteria).

“As with the  recent award of The AA rosette Jackie and I were both surprised and delighted to be recognised by Trip Advisor – in particular because the reviews posted come from guests and visitors who have stayed with us sometimes for an evening or a lunch time meal and other times over a period of days

The reviews also reinforce the fact that we have some fantastic staff who work with us from head chef Peter in the kitchen through to our bar staff (Sally, Emma, Megan & Matt) and all our other regular front of house people and dish washers who work so very hard when they are with us”. The Inn’s reviews can be accessed here.
