The Met Office listed Ross on Wye as having the highest rainfall in the UK on Wednesday (23rd December 2020) with a total of 50.4 mm, but they didn’t know about the Penallt weather station which recorded 54.8 mm on the same day!
This was the third highest daily total since records started in April 2011 and only the fifth occasion on which 50 mm (just under 2 inches) has been recorded:-
