Chris Morgan reports:
A large oak tree blew down across the road just above the Old Church yesterday afternoon (Saturday 8th February). This took another Oak, which was on the lower side of the road with it. The root ball of the lower Tree was partially under the road surface, and caused the road to be uplifted and also fractured the water main.
The map section on the right shows the site of the landslip.
Tuesday 11th February
The broken water main has now been repaired but the road is still closed. Vehicle access to the Old Church is via Birches Road only, but pedestrians and cyclists can pass the obstruction on the uphill side.
